The transformational rhythmic speaker and author who’s making an Impact and will show you how to speak your truth…

Being a majority women-led team (and brand) that strives for a healthy and ethical ethos, we love highlighting amazing women — and Doc Peace definitely qualifies (her name is Peace Uche). Her unique form of rhythmic poetry and story-telling is tailored to spur positive action to help build confidence, strengthen connections, and voice personal truth. The best description we can think of is a combination of poetry, motivational speaking, storytelling and guided meditation. That description definitely doesn’t do it justice (take a look at the video later in this article).

We had a chance to ask this fascinating woman, speaker and author a few questions about her work and life…

Thanks for your time, Peace! First, the most important question… what’s your favorite ice cream flavor?

Vegan Cookies and Cream!

Love it! So, what led you to become a Transformational Rhythmic Speaker?

I am the second daughter born to Nigerian immigrants who moved here to America seeking vast opportunities. My mother, whom I call “nne” which means mother in Igbo — a Nigerian dialect — became a nurse, and raised me and my 2 siblings single-handedly. Nne named me Peace because she needed peace in her life at the time she gave me life. From a young age, she instilled in me that education is key to success. So through a series of events I became a Pharmacist to provide medication education and thereby help others help themselves.

However, I sought more than what the corporate world offered me… it simply did not fulfill me. After starting my pharmacy career, I realized that I wanted to make more of an impact on the world. I realized that I had other gifts and talents that were going unused so I decided to change that and express all of my talents, pursue all of my passions. Why hide your alter ego in an alternative world? You can be professional. You can be artistic. You can be athletic. You can be all those things and more! I thrived most when sharing my story and inspiring others to fully express their true selves. “Doc.PEACE” was officially born from this epiphany.

“We can’t turn a blind eye to what’s directly in front of you. But you can learn to appreciate it — notice the differences, find the similarities, and learn to appreciate the beauty within. That is when we will transform and begin to grow together as one human race.”

What holds people back from sharing their story?

The lack of belief in themselves and the power of their story. Owning your unique traits and genuinely sharing what makes you YOU can be life-changing, not only for yourself but those you’ve shared it with. Often I refer to what I call the Life Road which is the unique path that we each take throughout our lives. The decisions we make, the opportunities — both taken and passed on, the impactful moments — chosen by us or not, help shape this life road. I believe that being “G.O.L.D”… a Genuine, Original, Loving, Dreamer is the key to illuminating our Life Road. and to living our best life.

So, how does what you do help bring that out in people?

I use the power of spoken word to transform mindsets during my speaking engagements. You’ll be surprised how impactful this form of rhythmic poetry can be at engaging the audience and inspiring them to take action, making forward moves intentionally.

I also teach the art of being G.O.L.D I mentioned earlier — genuine, original, loving, dreamer — to confidence seekers who are looking to discover their innate gifts and talents; those in a transitional stage looking for guidance on how to tap into their authenticity, and share this authentic self with others, but aren’t sure where to start in this transformational process. Being G.O.L.D can open new opportunities in all aspects of your life — both personal and career-wise. Being able to genuinely share your story and effectively communicate your message brings self-fulfillment and builds meaningful connections that allow for substantial life growth.

What impactful message can you share with us (particularly now in these challenging times)?

See things in perspective and live with compassion. The message is very simple and clear there… that we should be kind to others, but it’s something that we often forget when we’re wrapped in the complexity of our own lives. And we may forget to notice the beautiful soul sitting next to us or walking beside us. Let’s get it connected and love our neighbor. See, we see the world from our own lenses which hold inherent biases. It takes compassion to see things in a different perspective. Transformation will come when we finally learn to embrace each other for who we are and give each other an opportunity to express without preemptive judgment. They always talk about looking past skin color, but our skin is beautiful — don’t ignore it. You can’t turn a blind eye to what’s directly in front of you. But you can learn to appreciate it — notice the differences, find the similarities, and learn to appreciate the beauty within. That is when we will transform and begin to grow together as one human race.

Our description of what Doc Peace does doesn’t do it justice

I envision unity. I envision us all being able to work together for the common good. But in order for us to reach this state it takes light. In order for us to work together and NOT tear each other down, it takes confidence in ourselves. Love for each other begins within. When we are able to tap into what it is that makes us Gold… we are able to build the confidence to shine our light, to offer up our innate gifts and talents, because we now know our worth. It’s you that you’re intended to be. If not you, then who would you see when you looked in the mirror? And when we shine our light, we not only encourage others to do the same, but we build connections, we form authentic relationships. We can make forward moves independently, but when we work together, we can do so much more. And together we thrive. United.

What’s your message to female entrepreneurs looking to change the world?

Two things… One, Break free from the mentality of scarcity. Two, speak words of encouragement. Understand that there is enough

Breaking free from the scarcity mindset isn’t an easy thing to do.

But by speaking words of encouragement to ourselves and others and by telling ourselves regularly that there is enough — enough opportunities, enough support, enough love — we can better break free from this mentality of scarcity. Throughout our lives we have been conditioned to compete — to beat out the competition at all costs because of the mindset that there aren’t enough opportunities to go around. But in actuality I’ve found that we can accomplish so much more when we work together to reach a common goal.

First, we create more opportunities and second, we achieve something greater than we could accomplish individually — something far greater than ourselves. No man is an island. We can achieve so much more when we work together. Together we thrive!

And two… Always strive to make a positive impact for you never know who’s appreciating you behind your back. You never know who’s watching, supporting, and following in your footsteps. Every decision has the potential to make a difference. Depending on whether that decision comes from a place of love determines that ripple effect.

Thanks, Peace for taking the time to speak with us.
